UNITED FOR CHANGE: A Collaborative Effort for Afghan Refugees
Together, We Empower Afghan Refugees to Rebuild Lives.
The collaboration between Ashar Förening, Paraply Förening and Nasoot Publication represents a partnership aimed at creating a better future for Afghan refugees. Each organization brings its unique strengths to the table—Ashar focuses on direct support and empowerment for Afghan refugees in Sweden, Paraply emphasizes integration, community mobilization, and cultural programs, and Nasoot Publication contributes by preserving and sharing Afghanistan’s cultural heritage through thought-provoking publications. Together, these organizations form a united front that not only provides practical assistance to refugees but also fosters cultural understanding, intellectual engagement, and advocacy. Their collective efforts are dedicated to ensuring that Afghan refugees can rebuild their lives with dignity, while also keeping their history, culture, and identity alive through solidarity, education, and action.
ASHAR Förening
Ashar is a non-profit organization established in 2023 by Afghan refugee women in Sweden. Born out of the need to support and empower marginalized communities, especially Afghan refugees, Ashar’s mission is to facilitate integration, provide humanitarian assistance, and engage in research and advocacy for Afghan refugees both in Sweden and back in home. The organization’s name, “Ashar,” embodies the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another through difficult times.
PARAPLY Förening
Paraply is a non-profit organization established in 2016, dedicated to supporting Afghan refugees in Sweden. Founded by members of the Afghan diaspora, Paraply focuses on facilitating the integration of Afghan refugees into Swedish society through various programs that emphasize community building, cultural exchange, and advocacy. The name “Paraply,” meaning “umbrella,” symbolizes the organization’s role in providing a protective space for Afghan refugees and offering a wide range of support services to help them thrive in their new environment.
Nasoot Publication
Nasoot Publication, a publisher in exile, was founded in 2020 in Kabul with the approval of the Ministry of Information and Culture. The organization was born out of a deep commitment to preserving and sharing Afghanistan’s rich history, culture, and social narratives. However, after the fall of Kabul in August 2021, Nasoot, like many intellectual forces in Afghanistan, was forced to leave the country and continue its work in exile. Despite the challenges and uncertainty, Nasoot has remained dedicated to its mission, continuing to publish books that contribute to the cultural and intellectual discourse surrounding Afghanistan.
